Whistler Adventure School (WAS) is a private college certified and accredited by the government of British Columbia that teaches Co-op training programs in the areas of Rock Climbing, Ski / Snowboard, Alpine Guide, Bike Guide, Adventure Tourism, Bike Mechanics Design & Innovation, ESL, Marketing & Media, and Retail and Manufacturing.

This location has numerous sports activities throughout the year; Festivals, art, and culture. If you want to have a natural lifestyle, practicing sports such as skiing or snowboarding, hiking or mountain biking, this is your place.

Marketing & Media Program

The WAS Marketing & Media Manager program is designed to train students and develop the skills necessary to be a successful professional in the marketing and media industry.

Students will learn how to make a photographic portfolio in video format with their outstanding works; as well as how to plan, develop and implement a digital and social media marketing strategy, promotional marketing strategies and event organization strategies.

The complete program combines eight academic modules and a collaborative practical training period in real companies. The Co-op practices are a good opportunity to have experience in the Canadian working world and to know the working methodology in a real environment.

This program also gives the option to perform the academic modules individually.

 

Retail & Manufacturing

The WAS Retail & Manufacturing program is designed to train students and develop the skills necessary to be a successful professional in the Retail and Manufacturing industry.

Students will learn product design, sales strategies and develop skills related to customer service.

The complete program combines six academic modules and a collaborative practical training period in real companies. The Co-op practices are a good opportunity to have experience in the Canadian working world and to know the working methodology in a real environment.

This program also gives the chance to perform the academic modules individually.

 

Design & Innovation

The WAS Design and Innovation program gives the opportunity to combine four courses from the Marketing & Media and Retail & Manufacturing programs.

With this program the student can CREATE a program adapted to their needs and desires, giving free rein to their capacity for innovation and creativity.

 

Whistler Alpine Guide Training Certificate

The WAS Alpine Guide Training program is designed to train students and develop the skills necessary to be a successful professional in the Alpine guiding industry.

Students will learn the techniques and fundamentals of alpinism and alpine eating guide. During the development of the program the students must elaborate a summary work with the information of all the experiences.

The practical part of this program takes place in the alpine valley of Whistler, where students can test alpine skills in a unique environment.

There is the possibility of training to reach an ACMG / UIAGM level.

 

Whistler Rock Guide Training Certificate

The WAS Rock Guide Training program is designed to train students and develop the skills necessary to be a successful professional in the Rock Guiding industry.

Students will learn the techniques and fundamentals of climbing and climbing guide starting with 3 theoretical-practical modules. During the development of the program the students must elaborate a summary work with the information of all the rock climbs and the different levels reached. There is the possibility of training to reach an ACMG / UIAGM level.

 

Ski/Snowboard Guide Training Program

The WAS Ski / Snowboard Guide training program is designed to train students and develop the skills necessary to be a successful professional in the Ski and snowboarding industry.

Students will learn the techniques and foundations of Ski guide and Snowboard Guide starting with 3 theoretical-practical modules. During the development of the program the students must elaborate a summary curriculum with the information of all the experiences and the different levels reached. There is the possibility of training to reach an ACMG / UIAGM level.

Adventure-Tourism-Winter Program

The WAS Adventure Tourism-Winter Program is designed to train students and develop the skills necessary to be a successful professional backcountry guide.

Students will learn the basics of travel with exposure to all types of mountainous terrain, alpine peaks, rivers and rock.

The program is based on 3 theoretical-practical modules in which, after the academic period, students must pass the Co-op internship period, where the knowledge and skills studied in a real work environment will be tested.

 

Whistler Bike Guide Training Certificate

The WAS Bike Guide Training program is designed to train students and develop the skills necessary to be a successful professional in the Bike Guiding industry.

Students will learn the techniques and basics of Bike Guide starting with 4 theoretical-practical modules. After the academic period students must pass the Co-op internship period, where the knowledge and skills studied in a real work environment will be tested.

 

Bike Mechannics Course

The WAS bicycle mechanics courses professionally trains the student in this field.

The instructors of this course, in addition to being certified by Cytech, are highly qualified and have extensive work experience in this sector.

 

WAS ESL Course

WAS ESL course is an intensive one-month training program in which students develop their language skills in English.

The school previously performs a level test to adapt the training to the student and maximize intensive learning.

In addition to quality professional training, any of the WAS certified programs will help improve your language level as they are programs taught 100% in English.
